Chimney Mantle and Bench

This project required a complex restoration of beautiful slab of Claro, wrapped around a chimney. The challenge was repairing the shortfalls in the piece without using materials that would not work well in a hot environment. Plastics and resins were quickly ruled-out, and we elected to mill a slab of Gaboon Ebony to match all cracks and pits in the surface of the slab, so the slab would not lose its identity.
